Pocket Video Camera Shoots for Hours

Friday, March 26, 2010

Tiny Cameras are the one which are really interesting and handy in recording. ucorder has launched a video camera which records for hours. you can carry this camera in your shirt pocket and start recording the surrounding for hours.

The uCorder comes in two flavors: 1GB and a 2GB, for $80 or $100, both of which shoot 640 x 480 VGA video. i guess spycameras are much cheaper than this, but this works double the webcam. As both come with an SD-card slot, through which can be added an extra 8GB, Fully loaded, you can get seven hours of footage from a small, light package that will clip into a front pocket, hang around your neck or mount onto a helmet.

movies are in AVI format, and you import them by plugging the camera into a USB port and dragging the files across. The camera also charges via USB. The most obvious use is sports, or at least non-contact sports.

If some body wants to check the things in your home for example like paranormal activities turn the camera on and leave it till morning :) i am just kidding but you use this for a better purpose than what i said.

Laser security system to fight hackers

Hacking, this is this word which panics many Companies who feel their data is very confidential and which needs to be shared thorugh networks. such as defence networks, governament websites or any other banking websites. But to be frank this work makes think the people who do this are really intelligent. Well Hackers use lot of methods to hack through the network and in some cases they have even cracked the codes which companies felt like they cannot be cracked atleast billion years.

This time scientists have invented a method which can protect the network.Israeli scientists have invented a laser security system which they claim can beat today's hackers and the hackers of the future with existing fibre optic and computer technology.

There are practices being done in developing quantum computers for the future which are very powerful and uses the quantum theory. And these scientists say that even a quantum computer cannot crack the code if they generate the code successfully as per the new laser methods.

The researchers at Tel Aviv University's School of Electrical Engineering have found that by transmitting binary lock-and-key information in the form of light pulses, the device ensures that a shared key code can be unlocked by the sender and receiver and absolutely nobody else.

As i said earlier , hackers are using such a powerful techniques to hack for example When the RSA system for digital information security was introduced in the 1970s, the researchers who invented it predicted that their 200-bit key would take a billion years to crack. "It was cracked five years ago. As computers become increasingly powerful, the idea of using the RSA system becomes more fragile thus the solution lies in a new kind of system to keep prying eyes off secure information.

Imagine the cases where we need to send secure key over a non secure network which is Hacking prone zon, as the hacker once find the key being sent he can grab it very easily.

Dr Sheuer lead of this laser technique found a way to transmit a binary code (the key bearer) in the form of 1s and 0s, but using light and lasers instead of numbers.

"The trick is for those at either end of the fibre optic link to send different laser signals they can distinguish between, but which look identical to an eavesdropper," the author said.

Dr Scheuer developed his system using a special laser he invented, which can reach over 3,000 miles without any serious parts of the signal being lost.

This approach makes it simpler and more reliable than quantum cryptography, a new technology that relies on the quantum properties of photons, the researcher said.

well with this we can already sense the era being started into quantum computers.

Google Health gaining up Partners

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Google health, you might remember this word which i was talking about an year ago. Yeah Google health is moving forwarnd in health care technology market. This might be a good move by to capture the online market not only through search engines but also in diversified backgrounds.

Recently google has acquired Picnic a online photo editing portal and it made three acquisitions in three weeks. This shows Google is very keen in holding the grip over the online world especially to face the competetors like Microsoft, Yahoo etc.

Google health is one which basically offer an online medical portaal where we can research medical conditions and issues, find doctors and track down other health related websites or articles. You can also compile and store a health profile by adding test results, names of medications, insurance information, and electronic medical records from your computer or from third-party partners.

Google is dealing with partnering with some major firms which are medical stream to increase their business. One of Google's new partners is Surescripts, a company that lets its subscribers access prescription information through the Web. Doing this surescripts members can store and track their prescription history via google health.

Also Google has tied up with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), Citizen Memorial Healthcare (CMH), and Iatric Systems.

Recently Google health teamed up with withings wiki Body scale which is product that records Body weight, mass and BMI (body mass index) and then wirelessly sends that information to a connected device such as a computer or smartphone.

Well google health has still some concerns to think upon as experts say that information stored on Google health is not secure as it uses a commom password which gmail account has.

Google acquires Picnik

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Google inc. acquiring strategy is going well. As Google CEO said earlier they are in a plan of acquiring a small size companies one for every month and bigger one's in one or two numbers per an year. This time Google eyed on Picnik an online photo editing portal. With this acquisitions the count reaches 3 in three weeks.

Google didnt reveil any financial terms on this acquisition. Picnik is a seattle based start-up which has an headcount of 20 employees.

And after this acquisition, picnik employee will turn up to Google's office and start working with picasa team. Now that's a fair deal to the employees too.

Google Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette, speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference conference on Monday, said that Google was beefing up its ranks as business conditions improve.

"The bottleneck for us right now is engineering. How many engineers can we find given that we have all these great opportunities?" Pichette said.

Picnik allows users to edit online photos from directly within a Web browser, eliminating the need for special, stand-alone editing software.

Now i started thinking like there are growing number of entreprenuers in India , and i see most of the entreprenuers are turning towards Web based startups and why not Google or any other foreign companies look on to Indian start-ups.

Is that Indian start-ups are not so innovative or they are not going into main stream business of Web. Yes i have seen most of them shifting them selves to E-business or Social networking concepts but i stronlgy feel , the startups should look on international market or should look on for a product which can really penetrate international market.

Recently there was a company named Notion ink which created an Ipad which goes on head to head with Apple. Well i feel this is how we can really create an image in the international market.

Tiny Magnets out of Bacteria - Nano Technology

Nano technology comes to News again, i mean comes to my news again :) . Well this time Scientists in Manchester have found a clean and green way of making tiny magnets for high tech gadgets – using natural bacteria that have been around for millions of years. Sounds cool ha then

In most of the gadgets like Cell phones, recording devices we use magnets as a key element. Now with the help of Nano technology which is usually a revolutionary method being followed to create new technologies, this time the scientists have thought a bit different in making magnets from the bacteria that's natural and have beem around for millions of years.

Usually Magnets in mobile phones or any recording devices are made with usual nasty chemicals and energy intensive methods.Researchers studied iron-reducing bacteria that occur naturally in soils and sediments and found they can be used to create iron oxide nanoparticles with magnetic properties similar to those created through complex chemical processes.

The work paves the way for nanometer-size magnets to be made without the usual nasty chemicals and energy intensive methods

In the process of making these magnets Researchers added cobalt, manganese or nickel to the basic iron-based energy source used by bacteria, which resulted in the production of tiny magnets containing these elements. This greatly enhanced their useful magnetic properties.

and for verifying the findings they used high-tech paritcle accelerators at the Advanced light source at the Famous Berkely Labs and also UK's Diamond light source in OXford.

I feel this method reduces the explotation of minerals and chemicals from the natural resources which are used for making the magnets originally.Bacteria which generated by the nature and destroys by the nature being used for creating such things is a tremondous achievement in technology. Metal-reducing bacteria live in environments deficient in oxygen and react with oxidised metals to produce natural magnets in the ground beneath our feet.

Well the more the bacteria they have the more the reasearch that can be done. so the research team has developed a way of harnessing pure strains of these bacteria – which gives enough supply and reproduce quickly – to produce large quantities of nanomagnets at an ambient temperature. This compares favourably to the extreme temperatures – as high as 1000 degrees Celsius – needed to create nanomagnets using current methods.

Well who says bacteria is a bad thing, now scientists proved that there is some thing which can be " Good out of Bad ".

3-D conferencing by DVE

Monday, March 1, 2010

3-D is the next big thing in the tele industry. Earlier there was a post which i was talking about 3-D home theaters and 3-D telivisions. Now when an ordinary person gets an option to watch 3D movies sitting back at home then why not coporates get a chance to use this technology.

DVE- Digital Video Enterprises – have launched what they call “the ultimate telepresence experience – the groundbreaking DVE Tele-Immersion RoomTM. . This was shown for the first time at Telepresence World 2007 in San Diego last week.

The primary purpose of this is to host video conferences 3D mode which can be very effective for the corporate meetings , especially in Onsite-Offshore meetings where one can feel real experience of 3D.

Jeff Machtig, co-founder of DVE, said “We developed the DVE Tele-Immersion RoomTM to meet the growing demand for ultra-realistic conferencing". “We developed the DVE Tele-Immersion RoomTM to meet the growing demand for ultra-realistic conferencing".

Now i feel this can turn around the telivision industry moving from 2D to 3D. And also

Tele-Immersion Room raises the expectations of what telepresence is and can be. The “room” represents the ultimate in telepresence, with conference participants appearing to actually enter into a meeting room environment alongside their distant colleagues.

Now this technology can also be used in Medical and engineering streams. They say that The Immersion room can also serve as an impressive presentational room where memorable 3-D messages can be presented live or taped for training or sales presentations to clients.

Well coming to make of this device , DVE has formed a strategic alliance with Christie Digital Systems to assist in the integration of Christie’s Mirage HD 3D projectors. The recently announced Mirage HD is based on 1080p DLP technology and delivers a true 120 frames per second image for stunning, high definition flicker-free active stereo. The key feature of this system is that it comes with embedded cameras hidden behind images that makes true eye contact possible.

Well this would be really helpful for the corporates, so i feel only corporated can afford the price of this device. Yeah it cost around $895,000. Its a huge price ha :)
