Kumo the New search engine by Microsoft

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Kumo is the new buzz around the internet world these days .So far we have serach engines like google do search queries based on the matching of the words with the content in the website. These words are taken from the search box and then starts the search which looks a match of that particular word.

Microsoft is comning with totally unique strategy in search. A Kumo.com search engine being privately tested by Microsoft workers is reportedly based on semantic technology that enables it to understand sentences and relationships between words.

According to Microsoft Live Search general manager Mike Nichols , he said "Our hope is that our employees will give us great feedback on our new features and that it all becomes part of the external experience soon.""Our hope is that our employees will give us great feedback on our new features and that it all becomes part of the external experience soon."

Well if the KUMO is launched perfectly on to internet market after the testing phase we need to watch that will microsoft replaces the "live search " with "kumo.com".

I thinks this kind of search strategy is very helpful for the people. Usually people donot find the exact information what they want for which they have typed as the search engine looks only for the matching words not the relation. Well Kumo sounds Cool . If its succeeded then its a new milestone achieved by the microsoft in internet maket which they were strugling to come up.Well Microsoft is coming with lots of things and we need to keep an eye on IE8 which is going to be launched soon!!!

Sunday, March 1, 2009

Fews days back we were talking about 10$ Pc where whole world was watching us but it was a big FLOP show by our manufacturers. But now i have come accross something called PLUG COMPUTING. Sounds interesting rite well check it out.

A plug computer is a small, powerful computer that connects to an existing network using Gigabit Ethernet. This type of device eliminates the need for an always-on PC in the digital home to access these services.
This concept was introduced by Marvell a leading fabless semiconductor company, Marvell ships over 250 million chips per quarter.

Marvell calls it the Plug Computer, for its small form factor that can plug directly into a wall socket (it looks like a big AC adapter wall wart without the cord) and at is designed to draw so little power (5 W) that it can be left on all of the time.

Specifically, the Plug Computer unveiled is called “SheevaPlug,” a development platform uses a Marvell Kirkwood processor based on an embedded 1.2 GHz Sheeva CPU equipped with 512 MB of FLASH and 512 MB of DRAM. Connection to the home network is via Gigabit Ethernet. Peripherals such as direct attached storage can be connected using a USB 2.0 port.

As the project would creare 16,500 direct and 64,000 indirect jobs .Man this is a huge count. The project is expected to earn Euro 20 billion over a period of 7 years, if 60 per cent of the output is exported.

The multi-crore project is expected to be executed through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which will be created between VAVASI-SKS Holding/AI Bukhary Group and IREDA.

This unit will produce silicon which is the principal component of most semiconductor devices, most importantly integrated circuits or microchips. Silicon is widely used in semiconductors because it remains a semiconductor at higher temperatures than the semiconductor germanium and because its native oxide is easily grown in a furnace and forms a better semiconductor/dielectric interface than any other material.

In the form of silica and silicates, silicon forms useful glasses, cements, and ceramics. It is also a constituent of silicones, a class-name for various synthetic plastic substances made of silicon, oxygen, carbon and hydrogen, often confused with silicon itself.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Government and the Vavasi Telegence Pvt Ltd in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Industries Minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal for establishing the project. Mr C S Rajan Principal Secretary Industries, signed the MoU on behalf of the Rajasthan government and Farid Arifuddin, Managing Director, Vavasi on behalf of the company.
