Microsoft has landed up in problems again, this time it with the bug in IIS which has been released into public earlier. Cyber criminals are beginning to exploit an unpathced bug in IIS.
The flaw can be exploited to let an attacker take control of an older IIS (Internet Information Services) 5.0 server running on Windows 2000, provided the hacker has some way of creating an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) directory on the server. Other IIS users could also be hit with a denial of service (DoS) attack.
This new code could be used to launch a DoS attack against IIS 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 and 7.0, and could affect users running IIS on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, Microsoft said.And also for the attacker, he needs to be aware of reading the files on the system.Microsoft updated its security advisory on the issue late Thursday, saying it was starting to see "limited attacks that use this exploit code."
Microsoft will release its scheduled September security updates today, but it is not expected to fix this bug until it has had more time to test and develop a patch. Microsoft was not notified of the bug until the attack code was made public on Monday.
Mozilla recently released a product roadmap with a number of new details on what the foundation is hoping to release between now and the end of 2010, including information on when to expect the next major iteration of Firefox.
The report details that Firefox 4.0 is due to arrive in either October or November of 2010 and will bring with it a range of new features, such as a new slick user interface and multi-touch gesture suppport. But take note that this report is currently classed as a 'draft' and could be open to any number of changes.
For those existing Firefox users, a plentiful number of changes can be expected prior to the late 2010 release date of 4.0, with both 3.6 and 3.7 lined up for debut before then. These new releases will offer such improvements and features as faster javascript handling, improved form completion tools, bookmark synchronization and pageload enhancements.
Mozilla also revealed that when Firefox 4.0 does hit, it will take a leaf out of Google Chrome's book, as each tab will function with it's own separate process, reducing the instances of losing your precious browser session.

GE has announced one such kind of technology which is related to healthcare systems.GE has announced an initiative for developing wireless medical monitoring systems, or body-sensor networks (BSN). The new systems would replace the bundle of bedside cables used to capture a patient's vital signs. Accoridng to GE, this system would enable wireless monistoring system from anywhere in hospital or even remotely from home.GE executives say it the switch would represent an important step forward in revolutionizing the way patients are monitored in the future,.
GE Healthcare, in conjunction with GE's Global Research Center, is now developing body-sensor networks that consist of sensor devices that collect critical patient-specific information, including temperature, pulse-oximetry, blood glucose levels, electrocardiogram readings, blood pressure levels and respiratory function.
This real-time patient information can be collected and transmitted to doctors and nurses to enable efficient patient monitoring from any location. Improved clinical decision support systems ensure healthcare providers have the most current patient information as they evaluate treatment options, GE executives said.
"GE Healthcare applauds the FCC's NPRM proposing to create a dedicated radio frequency band that will help remove a major obstacle to the adoption of wireless medical Body Sensor Networks," said Munesh Makhija, general manager of GE Healthcare Systems and Wireless. "We will continue to collaborate with industry, the FCC and other regulatory agencies to ensure the proper allocation of spectrum enabling next generation wireless monitoring devices. By replacing burdensome bedside-monitoring cables, BSNs could enable critical-care patients to move around freely, which studies suggest is essential to efficient recovery."
"I strongly support the allocation of wireless spectrum for medical body sensor networks," said Nathaniel Sims, physician at Mass General Hospital, assistant professor of anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and physician adviser, Biomedical Engineering at Partners Healthcare. "By eliminating restrictive clinical cables, body sensor networks represent a logical evolution in patient monitoring. This technology affirms my commitment to flexible, transportable monitoring systems. Body-worn sensors could free patients from the limitations of stationary bedside monitors, improving quality of care."
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has appointed N Chandrasekaran (or Chandra), the present chief operating officer and executive director, as the chief executive officer and managing director of the company with effect from 6 October 2009. S Ramadorai, the present chief executive officer and managing director, will retire from his executive and board position on 5 October 2009 on reaching the retirement age of 65 years as per the company’s policy.
Chandra completed his masters degree in computer applications from the Regional Engineering College -Trichy, in Tamil Nadu, India in 1986 after obtaining a B.Sc. in applied science from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology.
The company has appointed S Ramadorai on the board of directors as an additional director and designated him as the vice chairman of the company in a non-executive capacity with effect from 6 October 2009.
