whats all about Nokia and Microsoft Deal

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Nokia confirmed its partnership with Microsoft which starts a news phase of mobile OS for Nokia. Now the question arises what happens to Symbian and its opensource project MeeGo.Wel Nokia has choseen Windows Phone 7 operating system on its mobile devices as its primary smartphone platform. With this deal, Microsoft Bing and other services are going to be featured on Nokia smartphones.Well what made Nokia to take this step???

Last couple of years , there is a huge competetion by Google and Apple. Specially Google Android is been a serious contendor for its competetors in the market and it has really captured the market to great extent. In the current scenarios Microsoft's windows phone 7 has done very good job in its sales, which may have attracted Nokia and not only market grip but also technical capabilities of window phone 7 os attracted Nokia, i believe.

Well Meego was much expected than what it is at present because Meego was a OS developed with the support of the chip maker giant "Intel". When Nokia says Meego would go down , Intel strongly contended saying it still has much scope and being an Opensource platform it can be much developed.Meego will still use QT where as Nokia developers are going to use Windows tools, Visual studio 2010 and XNA framework.

Now the big question is "what's the future of symbian". Well i see it doesnt have much future when looked on to this deal but still Nokia says it has a franchise model for symbian and it is still planning to release around 150 million symbian based phones in next year. Now i really wanted to look on what all the difference between symbian and Windows phone 7 OS and Android.

With all this happening around Nokia and Microsoft , lets see to what extent Nokia going to leverage the benefits of Microsoft OS and its gonna be a real game for Microsoft to show its capabilites, as it is paired up with one of the biggest mobilephone manufacturers and compete the opensource OS Android.

Vshow is the India's first projector mobile. This is India’s first projector phone to be launched by a domestic mobile handset company...

If you think about the battery back up .. they say it can be used continuosly for more than 3 hours which can easily play one full movie, or a presentation etc..
and a film quality of 25 frames per second (FPS) – which is as good as the FPS used in movies.

The phone is a touch-screen dual SIM (GSM + GSM) variant and also has another feature - dual screen mode (phone screen mode and projector screen mode are simultaneously active). It comes with dual camera and a dual card memory slot of 8 GB each to expand the internal memory of 64 MB.

Pocket Video Camera Shoots for Hours

Friday, March 26, 2010

Tiny Cameras are the one which are really interesting and handy in recording. ucorder has launched a video camera which records for hours. you can carry this camera in your shirt pocket and start recording the surrounding for hours.

The uCorder comes in two flavors: 1GB and a 2GB, for $80 or $100, both of which shoot 640 x 480 VGA video. i guess spycameras are much cheaper than this, but this works double the webcam. As both come with an SD-card slot, through which can be added an extra 8GB, Fully loaded, you can get seven hours of footage from a small, light package that will clip into a front pocket, hang around your neck or mount onto a helmet.

movies are in AVI format, and you import them by plugging the camera into a USB port and dragging the files across. The camera also charges via USB. The most obvious use is sports, or at least non-contact sports.

If some body wants to check the things in your home for example like paranormal activities turn the camera on and leave it till morning :) i am just kidding but you use this for a better purpose than what i said.

ADAM, the Ipad Killer from India.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Apple's iPad may soon face the rival in the market but this time it faces the competetion from India , sounds strange but true. An Hyderabad based startup Notion ink. is launching its ADAM into the market and soon it gonna give the first flick at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. But first, it was sneaked a preview at Hyderabad’s BVRIT Innovation Centre, where they are based. The big thing it it going to launch directly into the US market initially and start competing the rival APPLE.

Well i was always dreaming about a product based company i mean a potential product which competes the world leaders in the market. I think this is gonna make huge impact on the market now and if does so, india may not be seen as only service providers but also considered as potential players in the IT harware.

Good thing is there are more and more entreprenuers tunring up day to day and specially from Hyderabad and Bangalore there are many startup companies which are looking for a break, and Notion inc succeeds in launching their product that may give lots of spirit to startup accross the nation. And Notion inc was started by young IItians and an MBA graduate.

We knew that Indian engineers and designers were doing most of the innovative work at Microsoft, Intel, and Apple. We just needed to take the first step,” says co-founder Rohan Shravan.

‘‘ Current PC technology is like a Hummer on a city road,’’ quips Rohit Rathi, the youngest of the group at 23, and, along with Shravan, one of four co-founders from IIT Kharagpur. Two are from IIT Delhi while Sachin Ralhan, the eldest at 25, is a childhood friend of Shravan and Rathi and an MBA from IIPM. Apart from Ralhan and Rathi, the other five are all aged 24. What’s so different about their tech? Three years in the making, the Adam tablet is the first device in the world to integrate two breakthrough power saving components — nVidias Tegra 2 chip and a PixelQi screen. Together, they help it achieve twice the battery life and performance of the iPad. The chip provides an edge over the iPad, with its ability to play full high definition videos and Flash on the web browser. ‘‘ It can offer the performance of a computer with the power consumption of a cellphone,’’ explains Shravan.

Adams integrates many innovations first used in the $100 OLPC (one laptop per child) project. Unlike traditional screens, PixelQI screen has a dual mode, and can be read in bright sunlight like an e-reader . With the backlight off, the company claims that it can increase battery life between charges by a factor of five.

NOTION ink didn't do this at an ease but they faced many obstacles specially getting the patent rights and the developers to work on the touch screen interface that runs on Google Andriod mobile operating system and if they need to get the resources who worked on Andriod they need to be higly paid around 1 lakh per month so they come up with a plan of training our engineers.

The company trained and then recruited over 50 engineers at BVRIT in Bachupally, Hyderabad. ‘‘ We got the infrastructure at their Innovation Center, and the students as well. We knew the technology in and out and started training them. Within two months it started paying off, and we started developing the professional applications for the product we wanted to design.’’

‘‘ The company is working on an application store platform of its own, where users can find a wide variety of content. It will offer everything from apps, books, video, audio, to magazines, newspapers and comics,’’ says cofounder Rajat Sahni. ‘‘ We see more and more users reading newspapers on e-readers and tablets in the near future , and has designed a lightweight product that adapts well to this purpose. They showed us a version of how a digital magazine would look on the Adam. We’ve taken design inspiration from a 400-year tradition — the user interface of magazines!’’ chuckles Shravan.

I wish this should be an successful product in the international market which showcase the indian market potential in the IT harware industry and as i said this can build the spirit among the start-ups accross India.

Google’s ‘Star Droid’

Monday, May 11, 2009

Google is preparing to launch a mobile phone application called Star Droid that can help amateur astronomers identify stars and planets.

According to a report in the Telegraph, the search engine software will use GPS technology to compare the position of the phone user with existing maps of space, attaching name tags to the stars and planets that can be seen through the phone’s viewfinder.

The California-based Internet company already offers a Google Sky facility that gives online browsers a map of space similar to its Google Earth and Google Street View services.

The application could reignite interest in planets and constellations that has been dampened by light pollution from street lamps that make the night sky hard to observe.

Google, which charges advertisers in its UK sites through a subsidiary based in Ireland saving it 100 million pounds a year in corporation tax, has not confirmed a launch date for ‘Star Droid’.

“There are lots of great applications being produced all the time so you will just have to watch this space,” a spokeswoman said.

According to Carolin Crawford, of Cambridge University’s institute of astronomy, “This innovation sounds like it could be really useful to help people learn what they are looking at. It will be interesting to see how much the camera on the phones will be able to pick up.”

Worlds Fastest Camera reveiled

Monday, May 4, 2009

This is demonstrated by researchers about their camera. This is the world fastest camera with unimaginable speed. Their camera's "shutter speed" is just a half a billionth of a second, and it can capture over six million images in a second continuously.

Its "flashbulb" is a fast laser pulse dispersed in space and then stretched in time and detected electronically.

The approach will be instrumental in imaging fast-moving or random events, such as communication between neurons.

What is more, the camera works with just one detector, rather than the millions in a typical digital camera.

Sony's new Cyber-shot DSC-G3

Sony's new Cyber-shot DSC-G3 is the first camera with its own Web browser, Wi-Fi connectivity, and 4GB of on-board storage. This camera is of 10 megapixel and costs around $500. The exciting feature of this camera is that it is having an Web browser. And also has some cool features like "one touch" wifi uploads.

Using wifi features of this gadget we can uplaod the pictures to picasam photobucket and other sites from the camera and also we can upload the videos to you tube.Damn this is too interesting for the people who likes to upload their pics in picasa or videos in youtube. This gonna reduce lot of effort for the uploading the pictures into internet from the camera.

Accoring review in pcworld Web browsing feature limited in several ways, not the least being a clumsy interface. You must delete and enter URLs character by character (no "select all" here), and with a small, somewhat slow touch-screen interface, that can become pretty frustrating. You can also upload only one file at a time--a batch-upload feature would have been great. The chief attraction to the wireless aspect of the DSC-G3 is clearly its simple photo-uploading ability; don't expect to be visiting all your favorite Web sites on this camera's browser.

The Cyber-shot DSC-G3 provides most of the features of its T700 cousin, including a smile-triggered shutter, face detection, and scene selections such as snow, fireworks, beach, a night mode, and a portraiture mode that supposedly softens the background while keeping the subject in focus

MS500 speaker gives you music on the go

Sony Ericsson has released its first outdoor Bluetooth speaker, the MS500.
The cool feature of this is you can use your mobile for operating this music player for changing tracks, this happens by music player getting synchronized with the mobile device using bluetooth. It means i think it works only around 100 meters radius.

It's powered by two AA batteries and works within a 10 metre range of the device, working for up to five hours on one battery charge.
Hanging from the wrist

Sony Ericsson says: "The MS500 speaker is designed for the outdoor environment with a durable splash-proof shell and handy strap, which makes it perfect for attaching to a bag, or hanging from the wrist."
We beg the world to never hang this speaker anywhere while it is playing music, unless you have the written consent of everyone within a 100m radius. And even then perhaps think about not doing it.

But still we need to wait and watch for this device as it sounds funky and will be in different colors . It can be another unique gadget in their collection for the people who are fond of gadgets.

Friday, March 13, 2009

Apple has introduced an new Ipod shuffle which is half the size of the previous model. They say the best thing is their new ipod shuffle gonna talk . I mean it can say the song title, play list etc.
“Imagine your music player talking to you, telling you your song titles, artists and playlist names,” said Greg Joswiak, vice president, product marketing, iPod and iPhone, Apple. “The amazingly small new iPod Shuffle takes a revolutionary approach to how you listen to your music by talking to you, also making it the first iPod Shuffle with playlists.”

iPod Shuffle can speak 14 languages including English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish. It features up to 10 hours of battery life.

In this just by a press of a button you can operate everything on the ipod like song selection to hear the name of the song. May be this innovation take another mile stone towards the technology achievements. By i personally feel spending the extra money from your pocket just to listen the name of the song or playlist is not worthfull. Looking from an technology perspective definitely it is new big step from Apple.
