Infosys Kindles Spark Across India

To brighten International Women’s Day, Infosys has launched SPARK - a two-day event for women students in their fourth-sixth semester from engineering colleges across India. SPARK, an IWIN (Infosys Women’s Inclusivity Network) and Infosys’ Campus Connect initiative, seeks to empower women from both urban and rural colleges. Currently, through SPARK, Infosys has reached out to over 1,200 students across 420 colleges in several cities including Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Mysore, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram
Speaking about the programme, Geetha Kannan, VP and head, diversity council, Infosys Technologies Ltd, said, “Infosys has built, institutionalised and evangelised inclusivity in the workplace. We are keen on enhancing awareness amongst women about the IT industry and career prospects therein. As women increase their contribution to the IT industry, we believe that such programmes will positively impact their aspiration for long-term careers. We wish to see more women stay in the workforce and attain leadership positions.”

The initiative is aimed at women students experiencing ‘Infosys’ through a two-day visit to the Infosys campus closest to their educational institution. The event will enable them to garner perspective on: the IT business, training to prepare for interviews (using self assessment and role plays), project approach to enhance analytical and problem-solving abilities amongst students and campus tour to understand the Infosys work environment.

In addition, this event will provide students with an opportunity to interact with the women leaders at Infosys and learn about the various aspects of a career in IT. Participating in SPARK will also allow the students access to the Campus Connect portal resources and online career counseling centre.

In line with Infosys’ commitment to gender inclusivity, Infosys plans to grow SPARK into a larger programme touching 5,000 students over the year.
