Microsoft Announces Windows Azure At OSI Days 2010

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Microsoft the software giant has announced the availability of a new set of developer tools and Software Development Kits (SDKs) for PHP developers who want to build applications for Windows Azure. This is a very interesting move by Microsoft to look upon where there are two employees from microsoft waged war against opensource, just two days ago.

Well Microsoft which was strongly impacted by opensource market is now forced to stick to opensource policies i guess so. Specially targeting the cloud computing. Microsoft wants the tools and SDKs are targeted at providing developers, especially open source developers, with more choice.

Microsoft was working with opensource communities for the past two years to expand its business. And now Microsoft focuses on next big thing Azure cloud computing services as they believe it would play a vital role in critical businesses, government and organizations.

Microsoft is providing development tools and SDKs which include the Windows Azure Companion Community Technology Preview, the Windows Azure Tools for Eclipse for PHP, the Windows Azure Command Line Tools for PHP and the Windows Azure SDK for PHP version 2.0.

Its pretty good that microsoft is showing its interest towards opensource, coming to cloud computing recently microsoft has stated how it can improve its revenue to 30 % extra from India by using cloud computing. Microsoft business in India is impacted a lot by piracy and nearly it looses 30 % of its profit because of piracy. Microsoft is planning to utilize its cloud services in providing the software to the consumers so there is no scope for piracy. Well its a good move by Microsoft but a bad news for developers at the initial stages who begin their careers.

Monday, August 30, 2010

HP has taken cloud computing to new era by building private clouds for the enterprises. Yeah HP unveiled Cloudstart, which includes hardware, software and consulting services as a package.

Cloudstart will use HP's Cloud service automation tools and HP says Cloudstart will use its storage and Blade servers too. By using cloudstart , one can build private clouds in 30 days. Clouds can be rolled out from different providers like amzon or google and or they can be mixture of two which are called as Hybrid clouds.

In handling Hybrid clouds , HP has got a support from stravia which it has aquired earlier this year. Stravia is a vendor of management tools.

Cloudstart is available in Asia-pacific and Japan only, this is will available for the other parts of the world this december, says HP.

HP's Cloud technology ease the Mobile web access

Thursday, July 8, 2010

HP Labs India has developed a cloud-based technology, called SiteonMobile, that simplifies accessing content and doing transactions on the Web. Well as i always said Mobile is the next big thing and it is the future, techonology is developed towards mobiles more and more day by day...

I say this is can be a next milestone in mobile technology bcoz users can send just an sms or a calling up a number that invokes the relavent TaskLet on the cloud... Now you may thinks what's TaskLet. this is the core media of this technology... when ever a user wants to navigate web to achieve some task, users needs to go through lot of steps where as in this technology these steps are encapsulated in the cloud app. that HP calls as TaskLet.

As India has the largest market for the mobile users where over 600 million mobile connections are exisitng, HP wanted to create this technology way back in 2008 as most of the users interested in accessing web through their mobiles.

Even though there are more than 600 million connections here in India the biggest challange for the mobile companies is most of the users are not intellectual to use Web on Mobiles specially mass sector, but HP says this technology doesnt need any technical knowledge to use this technology, all they need to do is creating a tasklet.

As more than 50 percent of users have low-end phones without browsing capabilities, the new technology throws open the Internet to a new category of users who may not even have an Internet connection.

HP Labs is offering the technology by invitation through the SiteonMobile Web site. The technology is also being piloted with three companies. The lab expects that a large number of vendors offering a variety of services will find it useful to use the HP Labs technology to offer TaskLets to potential customers.

you can find more information on SiteonMobile Web site.

Unisys to adopt cloud computing strategy

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Unisys corporation is another company unveiled its cloud computing strategy for moving their enterprise application workloads securely to cloud environments.

Security is in Unisys DNA, data center transformation and application modernization are our heritage, and outsourcing services tailored to the client’s specific business needs are our forté. Our cloud computing strategy draws on all those core capabilities to help clients break through the barriers to adoption and gain a full range of options for cloud services while safeguarding their operations and lowering IT costs.”

Unisys stealth security solution which is a data protection technology which was initially designed for the government and for commercial clients is underpinning this strategy. The Unisys Stealth technology cloaks data through multiple levels of authentication and encryption, bit-splitting data into multiple
packets so it moves invisibly across networks and protects data in the Unisys secure cloud.

“I believe that cloud computing will revolutionize the way enterprises obtain business and IT services and change the kind of payback they get from their IT investments,” said Rich Marcello, president, Unisys Systems and Technology

The new services include Secure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), for provisioning physical and virtual servers that both scale out and scale up; Secure Platform as a Service (PaaS), which provides a Java software stack—with .NET support planned—to make it easier for clients to move their applications to the cloud without making changes; My Secure Application as a Service (AaaS), for automatic provisioning of IT resources to support applications with multi-tier architectures; and Secure Software as a Service (SaaS), which provides access to hosted applications.

These services help clients assess what application workloads can be moved to the cloud, how that can be done, and the technology, financial and security implications of their choices.Unisys is planning "cloud-in-a-box" solution which includes Virtualisation capabilities, automation of ITIL best practices for service management.

Implementing cloud computing Unisys is providing best options for the clients to choose the services which meets their needs. The Unisys cloud computing strategy enables clients to choose the type of data center computing services that best meet their business objectives, from self-managed, automated IT infrastructures to Unisys-managed cloud services.

Amazon cloud offer appeals to colleges

Monday, May 11, 2009

Cloud computing is hot thing in the market. As i mentioned in the earlier posts about the advantages of the cloud computing , now the cloud computing hits the educational institutes. Amazon cloud has provided the service for the David J. Malan's Harvard University.

David J. Malan's Harvard University computer science students completed projects last fall that would have proved difficult -- if not impossible -- without cloud computing

Malan secured a grant from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon.com Inc.'s cloud-computing service, that let his students do coursework with the company's global computer infrastructure--virtual servers that allow students to complete data-heavy assignments without bogging down or crashing the campus's hardware.

"It was a huge win for us pedagogically," said Malan, who has been at Harvard since 1995. "It makes possible resources that universities might not be able to provide for students.

IBM plans cloud computing services for 2009

Friday, April 24, 2009

IBM plans to launch several cloud computing services this year, taking on companies such as Amazon.com Inc, Google Inc, Microsoft Corp and Salesforce.com Inc.
Well as i was speaking about cluod computing in earlier posts as this could be hotest thing in the market as already many companies are aiming to cloud computing as it could minimise the costs to lot extent. Cloud computing systems run software and store information in remote, large-scale data centers that users and programmers access over the Internet.IBM has launched an internet based data backup and recovery services which is similar to this field

IBM is very keen at the future when looking at this new step of the company, as IBM has already entered into different areas like environmental stuff, Eco environment projects with the government and so on , it seems that it wont fall behind any sort of competetion that can be given by its competetors.speaking on the competetion, at present IBM is lagging behind companies which are youger to IBM in cloude services.Business interest in cloud computing has picked up since Amazon started offering storage and computing services over the Web about three years ago. Google and Salesforce.com are the other two early leaders.

IBM's technology was developed using some know-how obtained through a partnership with Google to develop cloud services for academic computing that dates back to 2007.The U.S. National Science Foundation announced on Thursday it has awarded about $5 million in grants to universities that are developing applications on that IBM-Google academic cloud.

$70 Million Cloud Computing Facility by SAS

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Cloud computing this is word which might look strange to some people as they are not aware of this methodology . Cloud computing is Internet ("cloud") based development and use of computer technology ("computing").It is a style of computing in which dynamically scalable and often virtualised resources are provided as a service over the Internet. Users need not have knowledge of, expertise in, or control over the technology infrastructure "in the cloud" that supports them. You can get more information on cloud computing by clicking this link.

Cloud computing users can avoid capital expenditure (CapEx) on hardware, software and services, rather paying a provider only for what they use

Well SAS, a business analytics software and services company, is going to set up a $70 million, 38,000 sq.ft cloud computing facility to provide the additional data-handling capacity needed to expand SAS’ OnDemand offerings and hosted solutions.

“This project is proof that, despite the down economy, SAS continues to grow and innovate,” said Jim Goodnight, CEO, SAS. “The growing demand by our customers for hosted solutions has given us this opportunity to invest even further in North Carolina and the Cary community.” for desiging this project, more than 1000 people are involved and is built on LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards

The facility will include two 10,000-square-foot server farms. Server Farm 1 is anticipated to be on-line mid-2010 and support growth for three to five years. Server Farm 2 will be constructed as a shell and will be populated with mechanical and electrical infrastructure once Server Farm 1 reaches 80 per cent capacity.
