youtube is the second largest Search engine tool.

Monday, March 28, 2011

Youtube one of the favourite sites to hangout is been ranked as world's second largest search engine. And you know what, this is owned by world's first largest search engine none other than Google. Youtube gradually increased tremondous traffic after it has been aquired by Google. Now what makes it interesting is how is google getting profit out of this as it never declared youtube as a revenue center...

Coming to Youtube it is now completed 6years in the industry and became the second largest search engine and i believe it has lot of potential in this because coming to search engines, Google and youtube differ a lot and Google is being used in all the sectors like education, Information technology, Daily needs, Transport etc but coming to Youtube i guess even it has got diversified sectors to rely upon but it is only related to videos and it still managed to be ranked 2nd in search engines where as it has some tough competetores like Bing, etc.

youtube gets two billion views a day, up 50% since 2009 and in india it has got 20 million unique visitors. I believe Facebook which is the furious competetor for google, helped youtube to increase its traffic a lot. Facebook gained popularity in India mostly on sharing the videos on it publicly and facebook being an famous mobile app in India now, eventually youtube got its popularity through facebook. I believe Facebook missed out this strategy while competing with Google.

If you talk about monetizing on youtube, it has already got Google ads and other brands advertising on the website which can make good money to youtube. Well Well lets see how the other search engines improvise their strategies in bringing up their traffic , nevertheless acquiring youtube was a very good move by Google and it proved that it is worth while.

whats all about Nokia and Microsoft Deal

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Nokia confirmed its partnership with Microsoft which starts a news phase of mobile OS for Nokia. Now the question arises what happens to Symbian and its opensource project MeeGo.Wel Nokia has choseen Windows Phone 7 operating system on its mobile devices as its primary smartphone platform. With this deal, Microsoft Bing and other services are going to be featured on Nokia smartphones.Well what made Nokia to take this step???

Last couple of years , there is a huge competetion by Google and Apple. Specially Google Android is been a serious contendor for its competetors in the market and it has really captured the market to great extent. In the current scenarios Microsoft's windows phone 7 has done very good job in its sales, which may have attracted Nokia and not only market grip but also technical capabilities of window phone 7 os attracted Nokia, i believe.

Well Meego was much expected than what it is at present because Meego was a OS developed with the support of the chip maker giant "Intel". When Nokia says Meego would go down , Intel strongly contended saying it still has much scope and being an Opensource platform it can be much developed.Meego will still use QT where as Nokia developers are going to use Windows tools, Visual studio 2010 and XNA framework.

Now the big question is "what's the future of symbian". Well i see it doesnt have much future when looked on to this deal but still Nokia says it has a franchise model for symbian and it is still planning to release around 150 million symbian based phones in next year. Now i really wanted to look on what all the difference between symbian and Windows phone 7 OS and Android.

With all this happening around Nokia and Microsoft , lets see to what extent Nokia going to leverage the benefits of Microsoft OS and its gonna be a real game for Microsoft to show its capabilites, as it is paired up with one of the biggest mobilephone manufacturers and compete the opensource OS Android.

Update status on Facebook through Mobile or landline !!!

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Facebook can be updated from your mobile, now one may think what's strange in this??????? yeah the strange thing is, it can be updated through your mobile but on voice. Not only from Mobile but can also be updated from landline. This is being done by a cloud service introduced by company named Ozonetel.

Facebook being the most popular social network platform, they believe this feature can be really helpfull for the users. But i guess calling from landline and updating facebook nopes it doesnt sound that catchy. There is no point in calling from landline and updating facebook. If the user doesnt have a computer or internet access , he will not be an internet savy and i believe they wont call from a landline and update Facebook and same goes with mobile.

I do not see this feature can be useful for the people to much extent. I only see this as company wanted to get exposed to the market by creating an unique app for facebook and yeah this can be useful to generate business for the company. I mean to say this idea is more on profit oriented but not a catchy or needfull thing for the users..

To register at Ozonetel's 'Cloud telephony platform' one has to log on to the Voice Buzz application and have to provide their phone number will not be shared with anyone .While logging on Facebook the user has to sync his Facebook account and to post the voice message one have to call 040-30512834 from his registered phone and can leave the voice message which will be instantly appear on Facebook feed.

Facebook and Google Gearing up to takeover Twitter?????

Friday, February 11, 2011

Twitter on sale????????? hmmmm its a big news though... the internet giant Google and Socialnetwork leader Facebook have held takeover talks with twitter. The amount on the bid is huge now.. its somewhere near $10 billion according to Wall street Journal.

Twitter has been a sensation in socialnetwork on internet and the new ways it adopted to build the network were incredible. Twitter was also pretty useful rather i would say it was poerful in marketting options.

Twitter is just four year old company and is been tough competetor for the internet giants like Facebook, Zynga and Linkedin. Twitter implemented many strategies to pull in the crowd which even facebook did. Twitter has gathered enough celebrities on to their site which pulled enormous crowd initially... and slowly it began to capture the market. Twitter apps supported by mobile phone which i felt one of the most important feature of this site... the funda is pretty simple... If the socialnetwork site suppports on any mobile device than that can be a pretty big thing.

Though Google is leading the online market and it has already got orkut in its account for the socialnetwork sector it's interest in twitter shows its prediction towards future. Coming to Facebook, i guess it can remove its competetor from the market rather doing this.. it can own the competetor and increase the hold on the market..

Well lets see how far it goes on this... i believe twitter is not yet ready to do so :)

Google Earth 6.0

Monday, November 29, 2010

Google has come up with the annoucement of Google earth 6.0. what's new about GE6 now? well it has come up with integrated street view experience and 3D trees. 3D trees???? sounds strange ha.. come lets check it out...

First of all, let me know you guys what is "integrated street view". Using this feature you can directly move upto your doorstep vitually. Now here comes the concept which i was imagining when i first heard about Google earth. The concept is, there is a pegman whom you can pick and drop along the highlighted roadways ... and you can use the navigation controls or your mouse to look around.

And unlike the earlier Street View layer, you can now move seamlessly from one location to another as if you’re walking down the street by using the scroll-wheel on your mouse or the arrow keys on your keyboard. If you want to visit somewhere farther away, simply click the “exit” button and you’ll immediately return to an aerial view where you can easily fly to your next destination. Wow this is just like a 3D video Game.

Then comes another feature "3D trees". Google Earth 6 includes 3D models for dozens of species of trees, from the Japanese Maple to the East African Cordia to the cacao tree.

Google says: "While we’ve just gotten started planting trees in Google Earth, we already have more than 80 million trees in places such as Athens, Berlin, Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and Tokyo. Through our Google Earth Outreach programme, we’ve also been working with organisations including the Green Belt Movement in Africa, the Amazon Conservation Team in Brazil and CONABIO in Mexico to model our planet’s threatened forests."

There is also feature incorporated with GE6 which is useful in viewing Historical images. while moving on the screen in GE6 and if you come accross any historical image.... then you just click on that image and it gives the oldest date of the image and once you click on the date it will take you to that timeperiod...

Well these are some of the main features of Google Earth 6 ... just try using this and leave me the comments how did u like GE6.

V.SHOW: India's First Projector Mobile Phone

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

V.Show is all set to take off the show.. yeah this is a cool gadget from indian mobile market which can change the thought of using the mobile in the way it is being used now. Vshow is the India's first projector mobile. This is India’s first projector phone to be launched by a domestic mobile handset company...

Well one might think to what extent it can project on to the screen. This mobile projects the content in the mobile on to the wall up to 154.9 cms (61 inches) of screen/wall with a high intensity projection of 10 lumens and QWVGA resolution.
And it is good to use this in the range of 12 feet distance from the screen..

If you think about the battery back up .. they say it can be used continuosly for more than 3 hours which can easily play one full movie, or a presentation etc..
and a film quality of 25 frames per second (FPS) – which is as good as the FPS used in movies.

The phone is a touch-screen dual SIM (GSM + GSM) variant and also has another feature - dual screen mode (phone screen mode and projector screen mode are simultaneously active). It comes with dual camera and a dual card memory slot of 8 GB each to expand the internal memory of 64 MB.

And the phone comes with the price tag of Rs 16,000 .. i guess it is nominal price for the features that are encorporated with this phone.

Google's Liquid Galaxy environment open sourced for Google Earth

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Liquid Galaxy by Google has been opensourced now. Liquid Galaxy is a cluster of computers running Google Earth to create an immersive experience. It started as a Google 20% project, and just kept growing.

you might never heard about liquid galaxy. Well this is a software designed to have a surround view that covers a users entire field of vision with images and 3D content, such as buildings, landscapes and various landmarks.

These Liquid Landscapes are placed accross the google offices around the world and they have also showcased these instruments in conferences. But now they felt it is pretty difficult to take this in to general public who can experience this awesome view of the geography.

So they decided to bring all the features of liquid landscape into Google Earth and it will be released to opensource communities so that users can build their own liquid galaxies. Google is going to release all of its Ubuntu sysadmin scripts and also mechanical design of the custom frames.

For the users who donot want to build their own , they can buy the complete system from its supplier.

pocket-sized projector by Lemoptix

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Technology is taking new dimensions day to day. It has change the world to a lot extent for the last decade. The best thing i say is Mobile phone , these gadgets have seen many changes for the last few years and now it can be said as one of most powerful gadget around here.

Now you smartphones, windows mobile, andriods etc etc and imagine a mini projector attached to it which can display the images from your phone on to the wall or any other screen, sounds cool ha ....

This is done by the Engineers at Lausanne, Switzerland-based Lemoptix, a spin-off from EPFL.Smaller than a credit card and with a projection head of just 1cm3 in size, its developers claim that the device can enable documents and videos to be projected onto a wall in the same way as current fixed projectors.
This micro-projector functions using tiny mirrors of less than a millimeter’s thickness. Positioned on a silicon (wafer) disc, they reflect red, blue and green laser beams,” says EPFL research director Maher Kayal.
One important thing they say is , this miniature consume less power than the matrix or LED based technology which is currently in the market. This pocket projector works at a minimum distance of 50cm and enables the projection of images onto a surface equivalent to a 15in screen.

I have seen this sort of technology being used by a techie who came in TED conference earlier. May be this is not the same, but whatever this could be very useful especially in official purpose,Medical institutes or otherwise.

This will be available into the martket in 2011 for industrial applications and then the following year for consumer electronics, according to Nicolas Abelé, technical director of the start-up, which is located in the EPFL Science Park.

Cisco unveiled a tablet computer

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Networking giant Cisco unveiled a tablet computer for business professionals on Tuesday as technology rivals line up to compete with Apple's iPad.

The Cisco Cius, pronounced "see us," is powered by Google's open-source Android operating system and boasts eight hours of battery life.

Cisco said customer trials of the Cius would begin later this year and the device would be available in the first quarter of next year.

It weighs 1.15 pounds (0.52 kilograms), less than the iPad's 1.5 pounds (0.68 kgs), and has a seven-inch (17.8-centimeter) screen, smaller than the 9.7-inch (24.6-cm) screen on the Apple device.

Unlike the iPad, which does not have a camera, the Cius features two -- a front-mounted high-definition camera which allows for HD video streaming and real-time video, and a five-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The Cius also offers email, instant messaging, Web browsing through Wi-Fi and eventually 4G connectivity, and the ability to produce, edit and share content stored locally or on the Internet, Cisco said in a statement.

Cisco said the device was designed to provide workers with "the ability to access and share the content they need from any place on the network."

"This platform can transform how healthcare professionals advance patient care, how retailers deliver service experiences to consumers, or how universities deliver world-class education to their students," said Tony Bates, a Cisco senior vice president.

US computer giant Dell last month unveiled a tablet computer called the "Streak" which is also powered by Google's Android.

Apple said last week that it has sold more than three million iPads since the device went on sale on April 3.

HCL bags $500 mn Contract from Merck & Co.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

HCL tech, the fifth-largest Indian IT giant has bagged an excellent contract from a US Firm. HCL has got contract of $500 mn from Company named Merck which is major pharmaceutical company. Merck has been an HCL client for six years but the deal marks a substantial enhancement of the relationship.

“HCL’s deal with Merck is one of the largest strategic engagements in HCL history. We will add jobs in north Carolina for the project"

Well this is one of the biggest deals in the recent times i guess, as this contract will pan out for 5 years. I see Indian IT giants are picking pretty big deals in the recent times as TCS had a pada deal with UK government is pegged around $600 million although it did attract political backlash. Patni in the mid size space also bagged $200 million deal from the insurance company Universal American.

For the past two years i can see like Indian IT sector was really missing the bigger deals , i mean to say the deals which are near and above $500 mn , the average size of the deals was reduced to $50-$200 million range. But the recent deals from TCS, Patni or HCl can give hope to Indian IT sector is market is still open for the bigger deals.

Well i see HCL is doing a great business, Last year, HCL bagged a $350-million outsourcing deal from media house Readers’ Digest and now it has got much bigger deal than that :-).

Laser security system to fight hackers

Friday, March 26, 2010

Hacking, this is this word which panics many Companies who feel their data is very confidential and which needs to be shared thorugh networks. such as defence networks, governament websites or any other banking websites. But to be frank this work makes think the people who do this are really intelligent. Well Hackers use lot of methods to hack through the network and in some cases they have even cracked the codes which companies felt like they cannot be cracked atleast billion years.

This time scientists have invented a method which can protect the network.Israeli scientists have invented a laser security system which they claim can beat today's hackers and the hackers of the future with existing fibre optic and computer technology.

There are practices being done in developing quantum computers for the future which are very powerful and uses the quantum theory. And these scientists say that even a quantum computer cannot crack the code if they generate the code successfully as per the new laser methods.

The researchers at Tel Aviv University's School of Electrical Engineering have found that by transmitting binary lock-and-key information in the form of light pulses, the device ensures that a shared key code can be unlocked by the sender and receiver and absolutely nobody else.

As i said earlier , hackers are using such a powerful techniques to hack for example When the RSA system for digital information security was introduced in the 1970s, the researchers who invented it predicted that their 200-bit key would take a billion years to crack. "It was cracked five years ago. As computers become increasingly powerful, the idea of using the RSA system becomes more fragile thus the solution lies in a new kind of system to keep prying eyes off secure information.

Imagine the cases where we need to send secure key over a non secure network which is Hacking prone zon, as the hacker once find the key being sent he can grab it very easily.

Dr Sheuer lead of this laser technique found a way to transmit a binary code (the key bearer) in the form of 1s and 0s, but using light and lasers instead of numbers.

"The trick is for those at either end of the fibre optic link to send different laser signals they can distinguish between, but which look identical to an eavesdropper," the author said.

Dr Scheuer developed his system using a special laser he invented, which can reach over 3,000 miles without any serious parts of the signal being lost.

This approach makes it simpler and more reliable than quantum cryptography, a new technology that relies on the quantum properties of photons, the researcher said.

well with this we can already sense the era being started into quantum computers.

3-D conferencing by DVE

Monday, March 1, 2010

3-D is the next big thing in the tele industry. Earlier there was a post which i was talking about 3-D home theaters and 3-D telivisions. Now when an ordinary person gets an option to watch 3D movies sitting back at home then why not coporates get a chance to use this technology.

DVE- Digital Video Enterprises – have launched what they call “the ultimate telepresence experience – the groundbreaking DVE Tele-Immersion RoomTM. . This was shown for the first time at Telepresence World 2007 in San Diego last week.

The primary purpose of this is to host video conferences 3D mode which can be very effective for the corporate meetings , especially in Onsite-Offshore meetings where one can feel real experience of 3D.

Jeff Machtig, co-founder of DVE, said “We developed the DVE Tele-Immersion RoomTM to meet the growing demand for ultra-realistic conferencing". “We developed the DVE Tele-Immersion RoomTM to meet the growing demand for ultra-realistic conferencing".

Now i feel this can turn around the telivision industry moving from 2D to 3D. And also

Tele-Immersion Room raises the expectations of what telepresence is and can be. The “room” represents the ultimate in telepresence, with conference participants appearing to actually enter into a meeting room environment alongside their distant colleagues.

Now this technology can also be used in Medical and engineering streams. They say that The Immersion room can also serve as an impressive presentational room where memorable 3-D messages can be presented live or taped for training or sales presentations to clients.

Well coming to make of this device , DVE has formed a strategic alliance with Christie Digital Systems to assist in the integration of Christie’s Mirage HD 3D projectors. The recently announced Mirage HD is based on 1080p DLP technology and delivers a true 120 frames per second image for stunning, high definition flicker-free active stereo. The key feature of this system is that it comes with embedded cameras hidden behind images that makes true eye contact possible.

Well this would be really helpful for the corporates, so i feel only corporated can afford the price of this device. Yeah it cost around $895,000. Its a huge price ha :)

What's project Sikuli?

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

Developers has new language to look on , that is "SIKULI". With a basic understanding of Python, people can write programs that incorporate screen shots of graphical user interface (GUI) elements to automate computer work.THis language was devised at the MIT.Sikuli is a visual technology to search and automate graphical user interfaces (GUI) using images (screenshots).

The first release of Sikuli contains Sikuli Script, a visual scripting API for Jython, and Sikuli IDE, an integrated development environment for writing visual scripts with screenshots easily. Sikuli Script automates anything you see on the screen without internal API's support. You can programmatically control a web page, a desktop application running on Windows/Linux/Mac OS X, or even an iphone application running in an emulator.

The main purpose of sikuli is to use images and get the functionality done with them. Like in the below example, we have a screen with Search box and when we click the targeted image , "hello world" should be automatically entered into the searchbox. well just have a look at this now.

got a basic example from their site check it out
Let's begin the tutorial with a customary Hello World example!

You will learn how to capture a screenshot of a GUI element and write a Sikuli Script to:

Click on the element
Type a string into the element
The goal of the Hello World script is to automatically type "Hello World" into the spotlight search box, like this:

Now, open the Sikuli IDE. We begin by taking the screenshot of our target, the Spotlight symbol in the upper-right corner so that we can tell Sikuli Script what to look for and click on.

Sikuli Script provides two methods to switch to the screen capture mode. The first method is to click on the camera button in the toolbar.

The second method is to press the hot-key (Command + Shift + 2 Macs). This hot-key can be triggered even if the script editor is minimized.

In the screen capture mode, the screen will look darker and freeze momentarily. The entire desktop becomes like a canvas. We can draw a rectangle around the target, the spotlight symbol.

The image within the rectangle will be captured and inserted into the editor.

Next, we are going to use the click function to simulate a mouse click on the given target. Type click() and put the image inside of the pair of parenthesizes as the argument to the function.

The next action is to type "Hello World" in to the search box. This is very straightforward.

The type function will type the string given in the argument into whichever input control that has the focus. After clicking on the spotlight symbol, we can expect the spotlight search box will be the input that has the focus.

Congratulations! You have completed your first Sikuli Script. You can press the run button to see this script in action!

The New Intel Reader

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Intel has come up with innovational gadget that is worthfull for the people who are visually challenged or reading-related disabilities. Earlier Amazon Kindle was a gadget which stormed into the market as a best Ebook reader. But now Intel has taken this to new level.

The New intel reader has an digital camera combined with an Intel Atom processor, the Intel Reader allows users to photograph printed text and then listen to the words read aloud by a computer-generated voice.

This has been developed by Intel’s Digital Health Group (the original concept came from an Intel researcher with dyslexia), the new reader costs a steep $1,500.

Intel on its website says that, Intel Corporation has announced the Intel® Reader, a mobile handheld device designed to increase independence for people who have trouble reading standard print. The Intel Reader can assist the estimated 55 million people in the U.S. who have dyslexia or other specific learning disabilities, or have vision problems such as low-vision or blindness, which makes reading printed words difficult or impossible. The Intel Reader, about the size of a paperback book, converts printed text to digital text, and then reads it aloud to the user. Its unique design combines a high-resolution camera with the power of an Intel® Atom™ processor, allowing users to point, shoot and listen to printed text.
