Many heard that microsoft is launching a stores similar to apple store. But we are not sure about the similarities with Apple store as Stephen Baker, director of Industry Analysis at the NPD Group said that "Launching retail stores is all part of Microsoft being more customer-focused, more partner-focused, and really looking at how to changes its business and change the direction they are going," Baker said. "It really has nothing to do with Apple. Apple and Microsoft have very different businesses and business models."
Well Stating on this Microsoft said they have recruited David Portera, 25-year Wal-Mart veteran, is joining Microsoft as its corporate vice president of Retail Stores.Porter will head Microsoft's efforts to create a better PC and Microsoft retail purchase experience for consumers. He'll report to Microsoft COO Kevin Turner.
We just need to keep an eye with what strategies this stores going to be launched. There is no report from microsoft about the lauch of microsoft store.
speaking on this porter said "There are tremendous opportunities ahead for Microsoft to create a world-class shopping experience for our customers . I am excited about helping consumers make more informed decisions about their PC and software purchases, and we'll share learnings from our stores with our existing retail and OEM partners that are critical to our success."
