Rajasthan to see Rs 45,000 crore Silicon Complex
Sunday, March 1, 2009
Rajasthan's economy is primarily agricultural and pastoral. The main industries are mineral based, agriculture based, and textiles. Rajasthan is the second largest producer of polyester fibre in India.Rajasthan which is known as state of the art will soon see a silicon complex which worths of Rs 45,000 crore over the next five years. As per the information the integrated Silicon complex would comprise a 20,000 MT Mono-crystalline growing facility, a 2,000 MW PV Module manufacturing facility, a 240 MW thin film PV facility and a float glass plant.
Actually this could be very good step towards employeement in Indian Govenrnment. As the project would creare 16,500 direct and 64,000 indirect jobs . As the project would creare 16,500 direct and 64,000 indirect jobs .
Man this is a huge count. The project is expected to earn Euro 20 billion over a period of 7 years, if 60 per cent of the output is exported.
The multi-crore project is expected to be executed through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which will be created between VAVASI-SKS Holding/AI Bukhary Group and IREDA.
This unit will produce silicon which is the principal component of most semiconductor devices, most importantly integrated circuits or microchips. Silicon is widely used in semiconductors because it remains a semiconductor at higher temperatures than the semiconductor germanium and because its native oxide is easily grown in a furnace and forms a better semiconductor/dielectric interface than any other material.
In the form of silica and silicates, silicon forms useful glasses, cements, and ceramics. It is also a constituent of silicones, a class-name for various synthetic plastic substances made of silicon, oxygen, carbon and hydrogen, often confused with silicon itself.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the State Government and the Vavasi Telegence Pvt Ltd in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Industries Minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal for establishing the project. Mr C S Rajan Principal Secretary Industries, signed the MoU on behalf of the Rajasthan government and Farid Arifuddin, Managing Director, Vavasi on behalf of the company.
